Local Cedar Fence Builders
The Natural Look. Built the Right Way.
Cedar is the wood most people picture when they think of a good-looking privacy fence. It carries natural oils that help it resist rot and insects, it's lighter and more stable than pine so boards stay straighter through the seasons, and its warm color weathers to a soft silver-gray if you leave it unfinished.
We build cedar fences for homeowners across Northwest Arkansas from our base in Farmington. Every cedar picket goes up with stainless steel nails, which won't react with cedar's natural tannins and leave dark streaks down your boards. Dog-ear tops come standard, and every gate we build gets a metal frame and metal posts so it never sags.
Kismet Fence is a locally owned Licensed Contractor, No. 0446811126, and every fence we build is backed by our lifetime workmanship warranty.
Cedar Fence Installation in Northwest Arkansas
Heights. We build cedar fences 4, 6 and 8 feet tall, and six feet is the usual backyard privacy height. Check your town's limits in our fence permit guide and your HOA's rules in our HOA approval guide. If your town requires a permit, we pull it for you.
Posts. Choose standard wood posts or upgrade to PostMaster® steel posts. Steel posts won't rot, crack or lean the way wood posts eventually can, and they sit behind the pickets so the finished side still looks like all cedar.
Finishing touches. Decorative post caps, custom trim and a protective stain are all available to fit your home. Or leave the cedar natural and let it weather to silver-gray.
Cedar or pine? Cedar costs more up front than pressure-treated pine. If budget comes first, pine makes a solid fence. If you want the best-looking, most stable wood fence, cedar is the one. See every option side by side on our wood fence page.
Cedar Fence Questions
Is cedar worth the extra cost over pine?
Cedar costs more up front than pressure-treated pine. For that you get a wood that naturally resists rot and insects, stays straighter as it weathers and looks richer from day one. If budget comes first, see our pine fence page.
Will my cedar fence turn gray?
Yes. Left unfinished, cedar weathers to a soft silver-gray. A stain or sealer slows that down and keeps more of the warm color, and staining is one of the options we offer when we build your fence.
What nails do you use on cedar?
Stainless steel nails on every cedar picket. Cedar's natural tannins react with ordinary steel and leave dark streaks down the boards, and stainless avoids that. Screws are available if you prefer them.
Is a 4-foot cedar fence cheaper than a 6-foot one?
Usually not by much. Four-foot pickets aren't widely stocked, so we cut 6-foot pickets down, which adds labor. And 4x4 posts aren't made in 6-foot lengths, so a 4-foot fence still needs 8-foot posts.
How long does it take to build a cedar fence?
Most of our fences are built in one to three days. If your town requires a fence permit, we pull it for you before we start.
How much does a cedar fence cost?
It depends on the length of your fence, the height, the style, how many gates you need and whether an old fence has to come out. Draw your fence in our fence calculator to see an estimate in about a minute, or book a free on-site quote.

Cedar Fence Styles
Side-by-Side Cedar
Cedar pickets sit edge to edge on one side of the rails for a clean, solid face. It's the classic privacy fence, with dog-ear tops standard.
Board-on-Board Cedar
Pickets overlap 1-1/2 inches on each side, so no gaps open up as the wood moves with the seasons. A fuller, more finished look than side-by-side.
Cedar Shadowbox
Pickets alternate on both sides of the rails, so both yards get a finished face while air and light still pass through. A good fit for shared property lines.
Horizontal Cedar
Boards run parallel to the ground for a clean, modern look. See our horizontal fence page for vented tops, cap and trim, and 8-foot builds.
