Steel Posts for Wood Fences
The Look of Wood. The Strength of Steel.
Posts are the part of a wood fence that gives out first. Wood posts can rot at the ground line, crack, twist and start to lean, and when the posts go, the fence goes with them. Swapping them for galvanized steel fixes that weak point without giving up the wood fence you want.
Our steel post upgrade uses PostMaster® posts from Master Halco, galvanized steel posts made for wood fences. They sit behind the pickets, so the finished side of your fence still looks like all wood.
Kismet Fence is a locally owned Licensed Contractor, No. 0446811126, and every fence we build is backed by our lifetime workmanship warranty.
Wood Fences With Steel Posts in Northwest Arkansas
Why steel posts. Galvanized steel won't rot, warp, twist or crack like a wood post, so your fence stays straight and solid for years longer. The wood rails attach right to the steel posts, so you still pick any wood style you like.
Works with cedar or pine. Steel posts go under cedar, pressure-treated pine and horizontal fences, in side-by-side, board-on-board or shadowbox styles.
On your quote. Ask for steel posts when you book your free quote, and we'll show you the price with steel posts next to the price with standard wood posts so you can compare.
Gates are already steel-framed. Every wood gate we build gets a metal frame and metal posts, even on a standard wood-post fence, so gates stay square and don't sag. See every wood option on our wood fence page.
Steel Post Questions
Why upgrade to steel posts?
Posts are what fail first on a wood fence. Wood posts can rot at the ground line, crack and lean over time. Galvanized steel posts don't rot, warp or crack, so your fence stays straight longer.
Will I see the steel posts?
Not from the finished side. PostMaster posts are designed to sit behind the pickets, so the finished face of your fence looks like all wood. On the rail side, you'll see the steel.
Do steel posts cost more?
Yes, steel posts cost more than standard wood posts up front. You're paying for posts that won't rot or lean, which is a common reason wood fences need repairs or replacing.
Can steel posts go on a cedar or pine fence?
Yes, both. The steel post replaces the wood post, and your cedar or pine rails and pickets attach to it. It works for side-by-side, board-on-board, shadowbox and horizontal styles.
What about the warranty?
PostMaster posts carry Master Halco's own manufacturer warranty, and our lifetime workmanship warranty covers the way we install them.
